THE HANDLES
The handles are made
from selected hardwoods. Style numbers 2-5, detail
knives, and drawknives will be walnut or maple.
Other styles will be made from selected hardwoods
based on availability of the wood.
THE STEEL
The steel used in
each of the blades is #01 tool steel. It is tempered
to achieve a good edge, holding toughness and
strength without being too soft on the one hand
or so hard on the other, that it becomes brittle
(the blade would then break or chip on the edge.)
COMMENTS
All these steps combine
to provide a product that should last a lifetime
if take care of in the proper manner. The children
of your children will be able to say, "My
grandfather carved with this knife!"
